About the
Harbour Building
Hafaldan Harbour Hostel was established in 1975. Overlooking the fjord, it was built as a dormitory for women working in the herring industry in the 1960s. At that time four to six women stayed in each room that now is considered a small room for two.
Thora Guðmundsdottir is the proud owner of Hafaldan and lives in her private apartment in one half of the hostel. The beautiful art collection in the living spaces and antique furniture in the rooms make this hostel very unique and cosy.
The very best quality of this hostel is its view of the fjord from the dining room, it is both unforgettable & sometimes breathtaking. The hostel is overall colourful, authentic and homey with small, cosy but basic rooms. The hostel is ideal for those who seek a true fjord experience and like to meet different people and share experiences.
