Hafaldan Hostel is located in Seydisfjordur on the east coast of Iceland.
By bus or car
Seyðisfjörður can be reached using the very scenic ring road, or Route 1. The distance from Reykjavik to Seyðisfjörður is about 680 km.
There’s also a website for carpooling where you list your destination and then share gas costs. For further information, check out Samferða.
It takes one hour to fly from Reykjavik to Egilsstadir, our neighbor town. Information on flights and bookings are with Air Iceland.
…you will arrive right here!
During the summer the Norrona Ferry arrives every Thursday from Denmark/Faroe Islands and provides a spectacular entry to this colourful town. For detailed information on the ferry schedule, check out the Smyril Line website.
If you arrive by boat, beware of the trend (inspired by an excitement to get going) of rushing away from the East Coast the moment you arrive. Countless travelers have returned to Seydisfjordur the night before their ferry, only to realize that they have missed out one of the most beautiful corners of Iceland in their rush to set off on arrival. Why not stay in the east for a few days at the start of your trip?
